FERCAM Echo Labs provides sustainable furniture for the Romentino Prologis PARK

At the Prologis Park Romentino, FERCAM and Prologis have found an important point of collaboration in the Parklife™ philosophy and in the aim of building more sustainable environments for people to access. Sensitive to sustainability issues, Prologis has promoted a partnership with FERCAM, the leading Italian logistics and transport operator, through the Group’s non-profit Social Enterprise, FERCAM Echo Labs, to insert eco-sustainable furniture in the park of Romentino. The furniture, including tables, benches, and relaxation chairs, have been made using recycled elements from the logistics supply chain, or pallets and other packaging materials to be lost, in a circular economy perspective. 

«Our reality has not yet turned a year», explains Dino Menichetti, who together with Bettina Baumgartner is at the helm of FERCAM Echo Labs, «But we have already succeeded in widening our range of action, finding many partners who share our same values and objectives in the environmental and social fields. In Prologis we have found from the very beginning a valuable ally: we are really happy that, once completed our Echo Park in Rome, there was immediately the opportunity to continue with a new project for another logistics facility. And we know that our shared path towards sustainability has just begun! ». 

For the woodworking, FERCAM Echo Labs involved political refugees (who received training in eco-design in the context of the project) and non-profit companies that are partners of FERCAM Echo Labs. An extraordinary action of sustainable, environmental, and social innovation, testifying the concrete commitment of all the entities involved in ESG issues. The collaboration is now destined to extend to other Prologis logistics parks. 

According to Sandro Innocenti, Senior Vice President and Country Manager of Prologis Italy, «the urban furnishings realized by FERCAM Echo Labs represent the point of departure of an important collaboration between Prologis and FERCAM's benefit company, that will see the installation of the furnishings also in other Prologis logistic parks in Italy, starting with Bologna’s Interport. The fact that these furnishings respond to a logic of circular economy and are born within the important collaborations initiated by FERCAM Echo Labs in the social field, gives them an additional value. For this reason, we have enthusiastically accepted the invitation of the company to become a Partner of their activities».
